On Saturday January 15th we held our second invitational of the 2011 season. We hosted Monte Vista and had 260 people playing. Even with this amount of players we still had a lot of people who did not get in to the tournament. We urge people to sign up as soon as the sheets are posted in order for you to play. We go in sign up order. We now have a new rule that you may only sign up twice, once in your gender and once in mixed doubles. Hopefully this will accommodate more people. We played an eight game professional set because this seems to be the fairest way to have an enjoyable competition. After the eighth game has been won the players may choose how they play out the rest of the hour. The score was Viewpoint 70 points (two for each win, one for a tie) and Monte Vista 59.
We had a very tasty lunch of pulled pork, salad and a cookie provided by the 2.0 Red team. There were many compliments on the lunch and we have received phone calls from the Mont Vista co-coordinators complimenting us on a well run tournament.

Viewpoint hosted a very successful Saturday tournament with Valle Del Oro as the invited park. We had 240 participants with all 10 courts in use. We played an eight game professional set with two points going to the winners. The score was Viewpoint 52 and Valle Del Oro 68. although this score did not reflect the level of play and the many deuces that were played. We had several Valle Del Oro members come up to the tournament table and thank us for hosting such a successful day. They commented on what pleasant & friendly people they had met, how well everything was organized and what a great venue we have. One suggestion was that we have a shuttle between the two courts so if anyone with a golf cart wishes to volunteer for the next tournament this would be great. Everyone enjoyed the luncheon and as they started serving at 11 a.m. instead of 11:30 there were no line-ups or crowded tables. Great job 3.0 Red team! We observed several Valle Del Oro people going home with their ‘new’ clothes from Ginger’s booth, once again thanks goes to Ginger for her time spent selling clothes etc.

We had an Invitational at Venture Out; the score was 48.5 for Venture Out and 46.5 for Viewpoint. A win scored one point so it was very close, which shows how well the teams were matched. It was well attended and we were pleased to see how many people stayed to cheer on their tennis friends.
Greenfield hosted the tournament on December 4th. At Greenfield they wanted to have a “Fun day”.
Greenfield did not keep any scores but the lunch was superb!! and most people thoroughly enjoyed their day.
Breakfast in the Park
Thanks to the 3.5 Red Team for a great event.
